The Final Cut:
PM&F: One Year Old and
a Little Bit Wiser

Our first Reader
Profile Study told us a lot about you, but it also
led us to ask more questions.

We launched this magazine last year on the premise that
the secondary plastics industry needed a publication of its
own. Plastics Machining & Fabricating was created to
fill the void in which all aspects of plastics machining,
milling, sawing, forming, bonding, sanding, and finishing
are discussed in an objective, user-friendly format. A year
later we have even stronger feelings that we are on the
right track. And, I'm happy to say, our support from our
readers and advertisers tells us the same. This issue
represents our best advertiser-supported publication to date
and a positive start for our first year as a bi-monthly
publication.
What we've learned about you so far
From thermoformers to store fixture manufacturers to
machine shops, a huge information gap exists on how to work
with plastics. Cutting tool geometries, feed speeds and
plastics materials' machining characteristics are among the
issues that are critical to our reader base. Our November/
December issue highlighted the results of our first reader
profile study. In that study we found plastics machining and
fabricating processes represent a very important part of our
readers' overall manufacturing operations. And PM&F's
readers use the whole spectrum of plastics materials, from
general purpose acrylics to exotic advanced plastics.
Our first Reader Profile Study told us a lot about you,
but it also led us to ask more questions. Therefore we're
already in the process of preparing our second reader
profile study. If you'd like to receive the first study,
please give me a call at 800-343-2016 or e-mail me at
