The Final Cut:
An Industry First
Plastics Machining &
Fabricating Conference Slated For Oct. 20-22
BY HARRY
URBAN
Mark your calendars for Oct. 20-22, 1999. Plastics
Machining & Fabricating is proud to announce plans for
the first ever conference devoted to secondary plastics
processing. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn City
Centre in the heart of Chicago's Magnificent Mile area.
Officially called the Plastics Machining & Fabricating
Conference, the confab will be brought to you by this
magazine and Vance Publishing Corp.
PM&F is part of Vance's Industrial Division, which
has many years of experience in developing and managing
successful technical seminars and trade shows on a national
basis.
Why a conference devoted to machining and fabricating
plastics?
Needless to say, the plastics industry has its fair
share of educational opportunities and national and regional
trade shows. But nowhere can you find a forum for plastics
fabricators, machine shops, and thermoformers that is
devoted to secondary plastics processing. In talking to
readers and suppliers to the industry, it has become
apparent that the time is ripe to develop a forum that
exclusively addresses this exciting niche.
Seminar outline
The PM&F Conference's curriculum will mirror the
editorial calendar of the magazine. Since its inception,
we've been able to identify several key areas of greatest
interest to our readers. Many of those same topics will be
addressed. Here are a few seminar subjects that we'll
cover:
- Working with engineered plastics
- Machining and fabricating acrylics.
- Fabricating with nylon.
- Machining and fabricating polycarbonates
- Working with ABS
- Fabricating with polystyrene
- Thermoforming tips and techniques.
Table-top exhibits
As part of the three-day event we will offer several
opportunities for you to mingle with your peers and industry
suppliers. We'll have a special area and times designated
for supplier table-top exhibits.
Call for papers, more information
If you'd like to present an objective presentation on
one of the above topics or on another area of secondary
plastics processing, we'd love to hear from you. Or, if
you're interested in attending or a displaying a table-top
exhibit, a brochure describing the event will be available
soon.
