DANIELSON, CT Are you installing screws into an assembly and ending up with failures and high scrap levels? In any automation environment, the tapered, fully threaded lead-in has to be absolutely perpendicular to the work piece to ensure a vertical start. Since screws are self-threading, they will continue to drive into the host on the introduced path, becoming cross-threaded, resulting in misalignment. This misalignment causes stress and cracking to the host material, ending in assembly failure.

Spirol offers two standard lines of headed drive studs to meet these assembly challenges. Unlike screws, Spirol® Drive Studs are burr free and easy to install, improving appearance and reducing component damage.

Spirol® Knurled Drive Studs are perfect for fastening cover plates, name-plates, and other similar applications. Helical knurls rotate the pin during installation assisting material flow and minimizing stress while creating compressive force for maximum retention. Straight-knurled studs are also available.

Spirol® Barbed Drive Studs best serve applications requiring high pull-out values and where the intent is to prevent disassembly and tampering. Applications include door handles, latches, glove boxes, and console applications where problematic rivets are typically used.
